What are your favorite metal bands

#22

Dan Swano is a musical genius.

#23

I forgot to put Opeth on my list, but to be honest, I’m not a fan of their newest album and songs can be hit or miss.

#24

I dont know if the foo fighters would be considered ‘metal’ but theyre about mostly all I listen to. Their riffs are easy to relax to.

#25

I would consider them hard rock

#27

I thought their new album was great, was didn’t you like about it?

#28

I’d have to listen to it again for more examples, but I remember the random solos. I mean Amon Amarth are Melo-Death, so that’s kind of expected but I remember their solos being kind of out-of-place. And the whole album was just “dry”. As in there were no songs that I actually liked.

#29

Interesting, I actually wasn’t “sold” on the album on my first listen, I’m not sure why. But I’ve grown to like it the more I listen to it. Some of my personal favorite tracks from the album are:

Give them a listen again and let me know what you think.

#32

That’s like a quarter of what I’d thought you’d post.

#33

How do you feel about in flames latest stuff? It’s just too different for me.

#34

IMO too much metalcore not enough melodeath. But I’ve heard worse.

#35

These are not my overall favorites… but it’s interesting. Here is a list based upon my recent plays (in the last year):

Borknagar
Tribulation
Finntroll
The Faceless
Unexpect
Shining (Sweden)
Wintersun
Ne Obliviscaris
Moonsorrow
Klabatamann
Der Web Einer Freiheit
Deathspell Omega
Dark Forest
Agalloch
XVI Dark Centuries
Lacrimosa
Gelheim
Vektor
Martriden
Vinterland
Draugnim

#36

It’s not really in flames anymore IMO too many members have left. With that said its pretty different. I found a couple of the songs off the new album alright but nothing I’ve bothered to save in my music library lol. I haven’t been able to sit through an entire album of theirs after colony, and lost interest after sense of purpose.

#37

Mostly Folk, Melodic, etc. I need to get more into symphonic stuff.

Eluveitie (celtic folk)
Gojira (melodeath)
UneXpecT (prog, avant-garde)
Drakarium (symphonic/melodeath)
Distoriam (folk)
Trobar (folk)
Insomnium (melodeath)
Scar Symmetry (melodeath)
Skyclad (founders of folk metal)

Basically, stuff that sounds a bit like this:
