I am in desperate need of a new laptop, as my MacBook Pro from like late 2013 is slow as all hell.
If you overclock a screen and it gets too hot from the overclock then yes I could see you breaking your monitor through software
I damaged my Samsung P2070 desktop monitor by trying to overclock it from 60hz to 77hz. Occasionally when I turn it off certain parts of the LCD would still be lit with a black bar and when I power on it briefly displays a grey screen before the picture corrects. It could also be of old age, I have this panel since August 2009.
