Cyanogen officially going down, fork to be coming soon? Will it be LineageOS?

#1

CyanogenMod Blog just posted:

https://www.cyanogenmod.org/blog/a-fork-in-the-road

seems like now that CyanogenMod is going down, quote:

“As part of the ongoing consolidation of Cyanogen, all services and Cyanogen-supported nightly builds will be discontinued no later than 12/31/16. The open source project and source code will remain available for anyone who wants to build CyanogenMod personally.”

The CyanogenTeam is going to fork the original CM and continue under a new name. (LineageOS?)

EDIT: Site now down, Lineage is Official, can be found here: http://lineageos.org/

Curious as to how soon we will see LineageOS builds for devices.

Currently rocking a Honor 5X on CM-13 nightlies, but oh well. Might go to the SlimRom Nougat builds for the Honor 5X.

I’m with an OnePlus One with CM 13 snapshot. I was looking forward to CM 14 but that’s a no go. Waiting on LineageOS news, but there are alternatives, like TugaRom or even Sultans work in the OPO of course. But it’s a major turn off! Let’s see what the future reserve us

got the OnePlus3 with Stock OS but modified.
I mean you can already build lineageOS of the github but its still CM anyway. Gotta wait for the rebranding to happen first.

All in all, it stays CM, under a new name without the company behind it.

Let’s see the implementation that they are going to make, which models they’re going to build of…and if they start from CM14 up or CM13 up

Some of the Pre-Official builds are up, some are made by the developers others are made by random internet people (make sure you get your ROMs from a reputable source and developer if not official).

Lineage Pre-Official is also out for the Honor 5X if anyone has one. They have Marshmallow and Nougat builds out and both seem to be pretty stable. Good news as this is faster development than I expected.
