Community Survey (Five Months Later)

#1

Hey all, one of the promises I made when I signed onto Tek Syndicate was that I was going to provide data on the survey I had posted on what kind of new content we were going to produce.

With me leaving after this week and wrapping things up, I thought I’d keep my promise.

Looking back, a LOT of the responses were troll answers, with cancerous comments, emails and fill in options. Due to the sheer number of these responses and clear bias coming in from people’s impression of Logan and co., people would rule this survey defunct. Some were clearly voting in opposition of anything new that Logan had proposed.

But before I post the old results, I’d like you guys to fill out a new one if you wouldn’t mind:

You all are our most devoted members of the community. Some of you have been here with Logan before Tek Syndicate was even a thing and we really value your feedback. By filling out this survey, we can get a little more accurate representation on what our current/new audience would like to see - and kind of compare/contrast to the data we were able to gather from the previous form.

Your email will not be shared, it is simply there for us to follow up in case you provide a really cool idea and wanted to talk to you more about it.

Thanks for your time.

Logan and a 3D printer, now that would be interesting

I wish I could have liked inbox more

here’s a supplement

#3

I would like to see something similar to this page here.

Just about tech.

#4

Keep the Crit show coming please.

Just a couple of my opinions:

  • Computer Hardware - Depends on what it is. Reviewing old and/or uncommon hardware is interesting. Reviewing the exact same thing that the other eighty thousand tech reviewers are reviewing gets real old real quick.
  • Myth Busting - I love stuff like this, but really only if it can be objective and have hard data behind the information. For example, the audiophoolery myth busting videos, while interesting, are more subjective than anything.
  • Audio gear - Kinda stated above, it’s nice if there’s a way to compare the gear. Like the recent Twitch mic video was good because of the audio samples. Still sad about no BoomPro :frowning: /s
  • Software - That might be a thin line to walk. Alternative operating systems are nifty, I don’t want this forum to become a Linux circlejerk like some other forum(s).
  • Vidya - Same with hardware. AAA titles get old once you’ve seen the same thing a thousand times, but old games or some high quality indies would be awesome.
  • Travel - The best videos, but are kinda expensive to make I would guess.
  • Beer - For some reason I just had the idea of pairing beer and video games, kinda like pairing wine and food or whatever.

Filled it out… mostly want more shenanigans.

#7

Filled it out. Threw in Community Art Showcases as a random idea that might sate one part of the community :stuck_out_tongue:

#8

Thanks guys, really appreciate the honest feedback. It’s less for me - but more for the community and Logan and co. Keep 'em coming!

#9

Pairing beer and video games is my fav thing to do! Or video games and whiskey.

#10

Just went through it. As far as PC hardware goes, it’s boring when it’s just the same stuff all the time but faster. But it can be interesting when it’s something new and crazy.

Also, audio and photography seems to be a passion for @Logan and it shows. Those videos are always done well. Keep 'em coming.

I was thinking like how apparently Cab Sauv and red meats go together, or Pinot Noir and mushrooms.

So something like:

FO:NV and Gose because Goses are thirst quenching and refreshing after a hot day.
or
Borderlands 2 and double IPA, because they’re both over the top and distinct.
or
Call of Duty and light beer, because they’re both shit.

Acting snobby, but really just having some tongue in cheek humor.

#12

That stuff about borderlands and call of duty was some of the funniest shit ive ever read!

#13

Forgot about this - a promise is a promise though, I try to keep them.

Tek Syndicate survey responses.
Crit survey responses.

#14

Tried to crunch the data, but ended up spending a couple hours improving my custom CSV Python loader instead. Typical…
